Did you ever think that your life was unique in its trials?

Have you ever talked to people, only to find out that others have experienced some of the ups and downs that you have?

Have you noticed how life has a rhythm to it?

All our lives go through seasons, tough times and good.

King Solomon one of the richest and possibly wisest men who ever lived made this observation

'There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens'

Ecclesiastes 3:1

Sometimes people are placed into our lives for a season too.

You reflect on the people who used to be in your life, and it's like; 'Wow, I can't believe that person was ever really in my life.'

But 'people are put into your life for seasons, for different reasons, and to teach you lessons.'

Selena Gomez

In life I believe we go through four main seasons

  • Disciplining A season where parents have the greatest input and influence

  • Coaching A season where both parents and teachers help and encourage

  • Working A season where employers or the business give direction and purpose

  • Mentoring A season where you get to pour into someone else’s life

Solomon also noticed something about God and the condition he has set within us. He said this:

'He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.'

Since we are made for eternity and our lives are built around seasons, I think it’s important to grow in wisdom, in order to recognise the seasons we are in. Then we can live out of Gods plan and God’s grace.

Sin is selfish and grows much like an appetite, The thing with an appetite though, is it is never fully satisfied. We need to be empowered to kill our selfish desires and become a follower of Jesus. Once more we will re-engage the process of disciplining, coaching, working and mentoring but with a different focus. One built around truth.

Jesus himself recognised the need for rhythm for his own life. He built life around

  • Prayer He often went to a quiet place to be alone with the Father

  • People He came to serve and not be served

  • Purpose He lived to advance the kingdom of God and died to reconcile us to God

Throughout all His life He carried a peace in his heart that no matter the season, whatever the trial
